Orcas Beta 2 is go..... but

where's my factory bits.... hehe.... seriously congrats to the team on getting this out the door, but I really want GAX 1.3 and the new VSSDK so I can get my factories over to Orcas. Oh and if you really need me to tell you where to get the bits (there have been a ton of blogs already on this) they are here

continuing on from yesterdays post, looks like Jezz and Ed are off to Tech-Ed Japan (way to go guys), to present a repeat of the 'Build Your Own Software Factory' session that they did in Orlando. Software Factories across the globe part 1
So I'm going to attempt to keep a track of SF talks across the globe. This first one that's got my attention is a talk from Tom Hollander at Tech-Ed Australia and at Tech-Ed New Zealand. Look out for ARC308: Software Factories, Tom is an awesome speaker and hugely knowledgeable about SF's so if you are attending either event be sure to take a look at this session. Couple of new factories
Spotted this on Clemens blog, Repository Factory and the Deployment Factory Repository Factory is a lightweight code generator that automates most of the hand coding needed to build domain model objects and persist them to a database, rather than a full blown ORM solution. Deployment Software Factory is a DSL which generates WiX installers and skeleton installers from SDM files.... hmm I wonder if this will turn me onto WiX ......

GAX 1.3 announced
Grigori Melnik has announced the plans for GAX 1.3 here, thanks to Tom for the heads up on this announcement. At last I can talk about something I've known for a while ;) So really GAX 1.3 is the version to get GAT/GAX running in Orcas, but the team have taken the time to include a couple of extras, mainly they are Experimental hive support, VB template support, and a new GAX installer (using Wix)..... now I may be on my own here but I so don't get Wix, maybe I will in time So that's it really hopefully ......
