PSP Quality Control
I bought my first PSP back at the launch. The lack of good titles for several months drove me to want to trade it in. My oldest son liked it, so I gave it to him for his birthday along with a couple of new games. A few months later he also got frustrated with the lack of titles so I bought it back off him so he could get a video iPod. Flash forward two years, my youngest son saved his money for months and used his end of year report card money along with some game trade-ins to buy a used one. The ......

Is Palm Finally Dead?
The Palm OS and hardware has seen it's share of hurdles over the last several years and tripped over most of them as the handheld market has moved to smart phones. The Treo was an early entry into that market and looked very promising. But was the inclusion of a Windows based Treo the beginning of the end? What to me looks like a last desperate grasp of a dying company comes the Palm Foleo. It looks like a low end, light weight, crappy laptop that's an Internet only device. (How many of these Internet ......

Everybody's a Victim
As many of you already know, Cardinal's pitcher Josh Hancock got drunk, got in his vehicle and drove himself to death. But his dad is saying, he was just a victim and is blaming everyone else. Who is getting sued: Mike Shannon - owner of the bar where he got drunk Patricia Shannon Van Matre - manager of the bar where he got drunk Eddie's Towing - the tow truck company responding to the stalled vehicle he hit Jacob Edward - the tow truck driver Justin Tolar - the guy driving the stalled car Apparently ......

NBC Fall Lineup - Must Geek TV

I guess the success of Heroes and The Office is all NBC can count on these days because they sure seem to be going after the geek demo.

The IT Crowd is being adapted from the BBC, Journeyman is a Quantum Leap style show, Heroes is getting a spin-off Heroes: Origins, and the Bionic Woman returns.

I can see the fall 2008 Friday night lineup now:  Lord of the Rings: Return of the Peacock, Star Wars: The Last Hope and Star Trek: The Search for Ratings.

Man Chops Off Own Head With Chainsaw
Talk about trying to one-up Bruce Campbell. How in the world did he pull this off? A man cut off his own head with a chainsaw after stabbing his 70-year-old father to death in their apartment in the German city of Cologne, police said. Alf Willwacher, a senior prosecutor, said an electric chainsaw was next to the son's body. "We do not believe any third party was involved,'' he said. I wonder how the police came to this conclusion? I would think the father had defended himself with the chainsaw once ......

New Zune Today?
Engadget has some rumoring going on that Microsoft has a big Zune announcement today that is probably an "entirely new Zune". At this point I would be happy just to hear that we are finally getting Podcast support. New Zune at Microsoft event on Monday? Update 5/8/2007: I can't find any information on the web today about any announcement other than some new TV commercials that started airing yesterday. So I guess this rumor is a flop. Update 5/9/2007: Okay, so now it looks like some people did get ......

Why Free DVRs Are Free
Why would someone pay $800 and a monthly subscription for a Tivo? Or potentially thousands on a Media Center, either Windows, MythTV, etc. DirecTV: We tried the new DVR from DirecTV that records local HD over the satellite. And it just plain did not work. Constant lost recordings and system lockups over the course of a few months eventually led us to cancel DirecTV completely. Charter Cable: Charter's new Motorola DVR is much more consistent, but Charter has shot itself with us 3 times now. First, ......
