Jeremy Miller and ASP.NET MVC “Thunderdome”

Thursday, October 23, 2008 11:07 PM

Just like Tina belted out on the theme song for Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Jeremy Miller has stood on the top of the Code Better mountain and belted out “We don’t need another out of the box web solution!”

Actually, his recent post outlines the opinions that he and Chad Myers have formed while working with the ASP.NET MVC framework. In the post, Jeremy gives some pretty honest thoughts on the failings of the framework as a whole as well as the positives and benefits of the individual components. Jeremy and Chad have basically outlined what could be seen as the first ASP.NET MVC Framework alternate configuration, with suggestions and standards on things like keeping the view and controller totally ignorant of each other, giving no direct access to HTTPContext collections, and how serverside markup is handled. They also talk about the various tools they use, such as QUnit, WatiN, and Fluent NHibernate.

But the biggest gem is how they've unsuccessfully tried to sneak in the codename for their Frankenframework...

The “Thunderdome Principle” – All Controller methods take in one ViewModel object (or zero objects in some cases) and return a single ViewModel object (one object enters, one object leaves).

And there you have it...Jeremy Miller and Chad Myers: authors of ASP.NET MVC THUNDERDOME - The first alternate configuration of the MVC Framework.

But the question will always be asked: What would Chad Myers have looked like in Tina Turners long blonde locks?

but isn't the rule of the Thunderdome that "*2* men enter, one man leaves". So translated, it should be 2 objects enter, one object leaves.

Sorry, but the rule of the Thunderdom must be upheld Justice. 10/23/2008 11:22 PM | Haacked

Phil, I don't know what is a greater honor:

- Having you post a comment here on my blog
- Having you assume this post was written by Justice even though it clearly states 'D'Arcy from Winnipeg' in the title

Be warned Justice Gray! The student has become the *master*!
