Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
I just got home from Minnesota. If you're just tuning in, go here first.

First off, I'm pretty sure I got ripped off Sunday night because the cab fare TO the airport FROM the office was nearly $10 cheaper than the cab fare FROM the airport TO the office. Bastards.

Teaching went well. Very well, in fact. Although... the *best* part of my week was seeing a couple of my students get stupid drunk and make complete asses of themselves in front of the company founders. Makes it so much easier to know which ones to fire. (and seriously people... when is ordering 3 shots of Johnny Walker Blue at a company dinner, at $48 per shot, ever a good idea?)

The flight back home was uneventful. From Minneapolis to Chicago was fairly close to "on-schedule", not that it mattered because the flight from Chicago to South Carolina was nearly 3 hours late. So... uneventful really just means that I sat in the airport bored out of my mind and then slept most of the way home once we got on the plane.

This is the point in the story where I point out that I have flown (or tried to fly) American Airlines 23 times in the last 2 months and had exactly ONE flight where everything went right.

Tonight's flight wasn't bad though. The plane was booked at roughly 30% capacity so I had two seats all to myself, which was nice except that they were still uncomfortable as hell. I did get an entire can of ginger ale to myself though. That was cool since I usually just get a tiny cup FULL of ice and a few drops of soda.

I'm glad to be home. Posted on Thursday, December 7, 2006 1:51 AM General Interest | Back to top

$48 a shot?

Wow, I don't get out too often.
