Kansas State BOE and Intelligent Design vs. Evolution
It's election time for primaries this week. If you live in Kansas, five of the ten state Board of Education members are up for re-election. This is controversial because in 2005 the board changed the state science standards (what science is taught to students in Kansas schools) to include wording minimizing evolutionary concepts such as common descent, the nature of the fossil record, and the efficacy of mutations, after holding hearings on science standards that included Intelligent Design proponents. ......

Game reviews
With my Best Buy gift card (thanks Jeff!), I bought Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and GuildWars. HMM5 is a mixed bag. The combat is cool and a little more strategic than in the past. GWB Game Contest
Congrats to George for winning the GWB Game contest. Cool game with a neat vibe. And thanks to Julian and GWB for sponsoring the game contest. It came at a good time for me. Over Memorial Day I was on leave in transition between two jobs. After managing a team of Indian outsourcers and unfortunately doing very little development, I didn't realize how much Dotnet I had forgotten in the previous six months. Although most people would think a job change is too stressful a time to be able to commit to ......

The post-GWB Game Contest letdown
I handed in my game submission on Friday evening. I was surprised to find that the rest of the weekend I felt aimless and without purpose for the first time in six weeks. The game had consumed my nights and weekends. So what now? Well, I start a new class in accounting this week, but even that does not take my complete attention. I find myself playing with the Crusader RPG game starter kit from Microsoft and thinking big things. So I think that I may start on another game - a big epic console-type ......
